Yet another route in Phoenix Park

Yet another route in Phoenix Park

I’ve been going out for a walk / cycle every day since the “Work from home” announcement in IBM and I loved every opportunity to be out.. Tough today it was really hard to convince myself to go out.. the reason could be the gray cloudy sky – I know it’s not new here 🙂 Bu good thing is I pushed myself out and I walked in Phoenix park..Not a quite different route but I try to choose walking in…

Along the River Liffey

Along the River Liffey

I don’t know how I will remember these Coronavirus days few year later.. We hear the same everywhere, stay at home, wash your hands, keep social distance, wash your hands again.. Everywhere is closed, schools, courses, any public gatherings are cancelled.. The theater ticket offices either called me or sent me an email for the event cancellations and refunded my tickets… I’m hoping that things will get back to normal soon.. 🙏🏻 IBM also asked us to work from home,…

What an amazing sunset !!!

What an amazing sunset !!!

The National War Memorial Garden is just next to my apartment – like Phoenix Park 🙂 – and I heard that this garden becomes so lively and colorful in summer with flowers all around.. Even without flowers, it has its own characteristic view.. I feel like I’m walking around a country side in 17th or 18th century.. Today’s walk was different not only because of the location but also the amazing colors of the sunset! I had 3 laps around…

Back to planting 🍅

Back to planting 🍅

It’s been couple of years that I couldn’t plant anything in Abu Dhabi / Dubai.. The weather in Dublin is also not great to be honest, good for some vegetables like spinach, rockets etc but I really missed my tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, strawberries.. briefly my small garden balcony back in Istanbul. Few weeks ago, while looking for smth for home, I saw the gardening section of the store and couldn’t stop myself looking into it and this time they had…

Finally I got my bike!

Finally I got my bike!

One of the first things I noticed in Ireland was the big amount of people cycling and almost all the roads have bike paths. And one of the first things I learned in Ireland is the tax free cycling program that IBM is also part of it!https://taxfreebicycles.com/public/index.php With this program basically you don’t pay the tax part of the bicycle – the total cost of the bike (and other equipments) up to 1000€ is deducted from your gross salary so…

Hansel & Gratel

Hansel & Gratel

Two hungry children lost in a haunted forest.….. I used to love the story of Hansel & Gratel when I was a kid. I don’t remember the details now and when I saw the show in Abbey theatre 2 or 3 weeks ago, I thought it would be nice. The stage was strange at first sight, two floors of a building with a “hotel” sign and a box (like a phone box) with “vacancies” sign.. I couldn’t envision how these…

Unplanned walking @Phoenix

Unplanned walking @Phoenix

You know sometimes you just walk and decide spontaneously where to turn, which path to choose. I especially enjoy to do it when I travel to a new country or a city and walk around the streets without using a map, and my decision criteria to choose a street to turn or continue would be: “hmm, this street is so cute”, “ah I should see this tree”, “this little house looks lovely” 🙂 Today in Phoenix park, I had a…

Hiking at Howth – Bog of Frogs Loop

Hiking at Howth – Bog of Frogs Loop

I wanted to go for hiking this weekend but didn’t want to travel for long again like I did the last time to Tintern Trails. Though I’ve been to Howth once and hiked there in November, I decided to give a try with a longer path: it’s called Bog of Frogs Loop: https://www.irishtrails.ie/Trail/Howth—Bog-of-Frogs-loop/110/ . The comments were appealing 🙂 Saturday night I looked at the weather forecast and saw that it’s gonna be sunny from sunrise till 11. So I…
